Series Tied 1-1

The Minnesota Twins won on Friday to not only tie the weekend series at 1 game a piece, but to also gain a game on the Tigers. With the win, the Twins are now four games back of the Tigers in the division and still lead the Wild Card by 1/2 game after the White Sox won in late innings.

The Twins starting pitching was OK. Matt Garza went 4.1 innings giving up five hits, four runs, and four walks. Some good notes where, he had six strikeouts and pitched three innings in which he didn't give up any runs.

After being on a recent slump, the Twins offense lit up on Friday as they scored nine runs. After going down 2-0 in the top of the 3rd, they tied it up with two of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Same thing in the 4th inning when they went down 4-2, however this time they took a 5-4 lead and never looked back as they added four more runs in the 6th. The Twins didn't have any homeruns, however they got RBI hits from Morneau, Nevin, Cuddyer, and Hunter. See the Twins notes for the RBI totals, and other key offensive stats.

The bullpen was good, they gave up only one run after Garza left. The first person to come in was Reyes, he came in and got one out while also giving up a hit. The Twins then brought in Neshek for 1.1 innings and he gave up no runs on two hits and struckout 2 batters. Crain followed in the 7th and 8th innings with no run baseball, he gave only one hit. The ninth went to Rincon and he continued his recent slump giving up a couple of hits and a run. He did get out of the ninth, and the win went to Pat Neshek.

Liriano to Start Saturday:
Liriano will make a rehab start for the AAA Red Wings today in the playoffs. The Red Wings had almost won the series and taken the chance away from Liriano to start, however a loss changed that and now Liriano will start today and throw somewhere near 50 pitches.

Twins Notes:
