Twins Lead Wild Card
The Minnesota Twins just took 2 out of 3 games against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and are now in the Wild Card lead. The Twins had a chance yesterday to hold a 1.5 game lead, however after Silva left with sickness, the Twins bullpen uncharacteristically blew the game.
The Twins will now have a very critical 4 game series against the Detroit Tigers as they are 4 games back in the division and the Tigers are in town all weekend. If the Twins sweep the series, they will be tied for first in the division. The Twins would at least like to come out with 2 wins. They will send out Baker, Garza, Bonser, and Santana.
Bert Gets 3 More:
Bert has been suspended for 3 more games. After being suspended earlier this week for 2 games for his language in Sunday's game, he has been suspended until next Monday when the Twins open a series against the A's. He has also apologized for his language.
Twins Notes:
- The Twins are only 4 games back in the division and are .5 ahead in the Wild Card.
- Rondell White hit 2 homeruns against the Rays in the series, he now has 7.
- Johan Santana got his 17th win on Tuesday, he now leads the league in wins, ERA, strikeouts, Opponents AVG, and more. He has made a strong case for the Cy-Young award as of late.
- Joe Mauer hit his 11th homerun of the year on Wednesday, a career high for him.
- Silva had his best start on Wednesday, had it not been for his sickness, the Twins and Silva may have won.
- Finally, Neshek had only given up 4 ER's all season prior to Wednesdays game. On Wednesday, he gave up 3 runs, and two HR's.
Don't Miss It:
