Crain Deal and More

Yesterday, as many of you already know, the Minnesota Twins signed reliever Jesse Crain to a three-year deal worth a total of $3.25 million. This deal was very surprising to me, not because it was a bad deal, but because I hadn't heard any talk of it all off-season or Spring Training. However, I think it is a great deal as it locks up a good part of our bullpen and with Juan Rincon possibly testing free agency soon, the Twins will be assured of having two good relievers in the bullpen with Neshek and Crain.

There were a lot of other headlines in the news for the Twins today and yesterday. Not new regarding signings or that type of thing, but stories about new Twins and more. So to get everybody caught up, here are some links to some good articles.

First Game Tonight:
Before I get started on the links, I'd like to remind everybody that tonight the Twins will play their first Spring Training game against the Boston Red Sox. The game will start at 6:05 CDT and will feature Matt Garza against . The game will not be on TV, but if you are lucky enough to have MLB TV, it will be on there. I will try to get a recap of the game later tonight as it is the first game of the Spring Training.

Now to the Links:
Tony Oliva missed out on the Hall of Fame again this season on the Vets ballot. You can read the story here and find out who did make it.

There are a couple of article regarding contracts for Joe Nathan and Johan Santana. One is called "Nathan wants to Stay" and the other "Ace is the place reserved for Minnesota's Santana".

As I mentioned above, Jesse Crain signed a three-year deal. This is what they had to say over at the Twins official site. Also over at the Twins site, Jason Bartlett talks about how much he played last season among other things.

La Velle E. Neal III has some interesting things up over at his blog. One thing is his most recent PodCast from Spring Training. Another thing he has up is his "Picks to Click" for tonight's exhibition game.

Twinkie Town looks back at their 2006 Predictions and SethSpeaks goes over the Pre-Season

Check Back Later:
I'll have more links later tonight along a recap of tonight's game. Hopefully I'll also be able to find some pictures from the game tonight to share as well.
