Twins Sign Cuddyer

The Minnesota Twins made the trip to Phoenix on Thursday for Michael Cuddyer's arbitration hearing. However, after all was said and done, it was a wasted trip. Just minutes before the Twins and Cuddyer entered the room for the hearing, the two sides walked into the hallway and agreed to a deal.

The deal will pay Cuddyer a total of $3.575 million and will include incentives such as a $50,000 bonus if Cuddyer gets at least 650 plate appearances in 2007. Cuddyer was asking for $4.25 million and the Twins had offered $3 million.

Terry Ryan had boarded an airplane on Thursday morning after the two sides were unable to come to an agreement on a long-term deal or a single season deal. Cuddyer won't be eligible for free agency until the 2009 season.
