They've Arrived

Today, the last team reported to Spring Training, the Minnesota Twins. Over the years, the Twins have been known to start a day or two later than the rest of the league, and this year was no exception. Today, was the day that the pitchers and catchers reported, but according to La Velle E. Neal III, many position players showed up as well.

La Velle E. Neal III (or LEN3), is blogging live from Spring Training in Fort Myers and has had a lot to say so far. He has noted that many of the position players have showed up including Morneau, Ford, and Redmond just to name a few. He also has reported that Ponson doesn't look out of shape and if he had to guess, he would guess that he weighs about 245 pound. Be sure to check his blog often as he will probably have posts everyday with a lot of information to share.

There are a couple of things that make Spring Training fun for me. One thing is the position battles. Coming into Spring Training this year, the Twins have one major position battle, that battle is for the fifth starter. The battle will be between many players including Sidney Ponson, J.D. Durbin, Glen Perkins, Matt Garza, and possibly even Kevin Slowey. Another thing that I really enjoy about Spring Training is seeing both the new players signed during the off-season and the young players from the farm system. Finally, the thing that I like most about Spring Training is the fact that baseball is back.

Over the next week, expect me to post pictures from Spring Training, along with anything else that I find interesting coming out of Spring Training. It should be another fun season, and today is the day that it is getting underway. Sometime tonight I hope to have more so make sure to stay tuned.

Right now, I'll leave you with both the links to LEN3's blog and a Spring Training story from the Minnesota Twins official site. Also below is another picture from camp.
