Injury Note: Mauer Sidelined

Today, Twins catcher Joe Mauer underwent a MRI after experiencing pain in his left fibula. The results came back saying that he has a stress reaction in his left fibula. This is a precursor to a stress fracture which takes about 4-12 weeks to heal. However, his injury is much less severe and Terry Ryan had the following comments.

"We'll give him some therapy for the next four or five days," Twins general manager Terry Ryan said Thursday. "He came in this morning a little sore. He didn't know exactly what it was."

"He should be OK after a little treatment," Ryan said "That would be the hope. I think we're OK."

"Basically all that we know right now is they caught it early, obviously before it turned into a stress fracture," Herman said. "They're shutting him down until Sunday."

All we can do right now, is hope that the injury is not more serious and Mauer wont miss any time. I'll keep you updated if anything else happens along the way to his recovery.
