Twins Place Three on DL

The Star Tribune reported this morning, that the Minnesota Twins have placed three players on the disabled list. None of the players come as a surprise, but here are the names.

Alejandro Machado: 15-Day
Lew Ford: 15-Day
Francisco Liriano: 60-Day

By putting Liriano on the 60-day disabled list, it opens up a spot on the 40-man roster. If the Twins keep Ponson, it would most likely be him taking Liriano's spot. When Machado returns, the Twins must put him on the roster for 90 days in order for him to remain with the club. Their other option would be to send him back to Boston for $25,000. Also, if he is out all season, this would take place next spring in which they would have to keep him.

The Star Tribune also reports that pitcher Randy Choate, who the Twins cut last week, has rejected the assignment to the minor leagues and instead has opted for free agency.
