Game 1: Baltimore Orioles

The Twins kicked off their 2007 season with a 7-4 win over the Baltimore Orioles. Santana didn't put up the best performance, but it was decent. The Twins bats looked very good as both Morneau and Hunter hit homeruns. With the win, the Twins start their season above .500 and have gotten the Twins fans very excited.

The pitching was good today as Santana went six innings, giving up four runs on seven hits while strikingout six batters. Santana exited after just 83 pitches which is to be expected early in the season. Reyes came in next and got just one out which was a strikeout. Reyes also walked a batter before exiting the game for Jesse Crain. Crain finished the rest of the inning, picking up a strikeout. Rincon pitched a solid eighth inning giving up just a two out hit. The ninth went to closer Joe Nathan in a save opportunity. Last season Nathan had just six saves after two months, but he was able to pick up his first with a scoreless ninth.

As I mentioned above, the hitting was very solid. Three Twins had multiple hit games, while seven different Twins picked up hits altogether. Morneau defended his MVP award, going 3-4 with a homerun, two RBI and a run scored. Hunter also got off to a fast start hitting a homerun right after Morneau in the second. Hunter went 2-4 overall with two RBI and a run scored as well. Punto, Mauer and Cuddyer each picked up hits and scored one run each. Cirillo picked up a RBI when he singled with the bases loaded. Tyner pinch ran for Cirillo after he walked, and was able to pick up the Twins first stolen base of the season.

Game Recaps:
For now, I'll be doing something like this for the recaps, where I do the pitching and then the hitting. I'll probably separate the bullpen and starting pitching for the next game. If you have any other ideas for recaps make sure to let me know. Also throughout the season, make sure to check the right sidebar for recaps from any particular game. If I happen to miss a game recap, I'll get the Box Score up on the sidebar instead.

Nook Look:
I thought since it was a new season, that I should make some changes with the look of the site. For more about the new look or information on the sidebar, check out the recently update About Us section.

Next Game:
The Twins will take the field again tomorrow as they send out right-hander Boof Bonser to the mound to face Daniel Cabrera and the Baltimore Orioles. The game will be on WFTC and FSN for those out of the state and will start at 7:10 CT.
