Game 14: Seattle Mariners

The Twins were able to pick up their second straight win after beating the Mariners 5-4. What was going to be a battle of two great pitchers, turned out to be a little but different. After giving up two runs in the first inning, Hernandez left the game with a sore right shoulder. Silva pitched well again, and the Twins early 5-0 lead held up in the end.

Carlos Silva came into the season with a lot of fans wanting him to be released. Now, he has been a pleasant surprise and has pitched very well. Silva did much of the same thing in the win, giving up just three runs, which came off of a three-run homerun. Silva's final line was 6.1 innings, 8 hits, 3 runs and four strikeouts. With the win, his ERA is now 2.00, and he is now 1-1 (even though he should be 3-0).

The bullpen was pretty good, but Nathan had another scary outing. Reyes came in to face Ichiro and gave up a hit before exiting right after that. The Twins then brought in Guerrier and he got two outs. Rincon pitched the eighth inning, and pitched well giving up just a walk. Nathan, had a rough outing, but was still able to pick up the save. He gave up 3 hits and a run, and had it not been for Cuddyer throwing the runner out at home for the final out, he may have blown the save. Anyways, he still got the save and now has four on the season.

The offense got off to a fast start scoring three runs off of Hernandez in the first inning, and then scoring two more runs in the second for an early 5-0 lead. However, after that they were shut down and didn't score again. The main players in the game were Cuddyer, who got a double and one RBI, Morneau, who got two RBI and Castillo, who picked up two hits.
