Game 2: Baltimore Orioles

The Twins won again tonight in a close game over the Orioles 3-2. The Twins, as they did last night, didn't win with much offense, but played a very good fundamental game to earn the win. The Twins stole a total of five bases in the win, which was the game deciding factor.

Although he looked a little shaky in the second and third innings, Boof Bonser pitched a very good game. Bonser pitched a quick first inning, picking up two strikeouts. In the second inning, he struggled with his command, and that went into the third inning as well when he gave up two runs to the Orioles. However, after that third inning, he didn't allow another hit. He pitched a total of six innings giving up just three hits and two runs while striking out six batters and walking three.

The bullpen was very busy after Bonser exited. Everybody in the bullpen pitched except for Matt Guerrier. When Bonser exited the game, Neshek pitched a scoreless seventh inning while picking up a strikeout. The eighth inning saw three pitchers enter the game as each one picked up one out. The three pitchers were Rincon, followed by Reyes and finally Crain who got out of the jam with runners at second and third. Nathan again pitched the ninth and picked up his second save of the early season pitching a scoreless inning while again walking Roberts.

As I mentioned above, the Twins didn't hit all that well, picking up just seven singles throughout the game. Castillo and Mauer each had two singles, while Punto, Morneau and Bartlett each picked up singles as well. The key factor in the game was stolen bases. Tyner stole second after he pinch ran for White in the seventh. He proceeded to score later that inning to become the eventual winning run. Bartlett, Casillo, Hunter and Mauer each stole bases in the game, all their first stolen bases of the season.

Twins Notes:
- Jeff Cirillo will not play for a few days after experiencing soreness in his knee. The injury in one from a few years ago, and he will get a shot to take away some of the pain.

- Santana will not pitch on FOX this Saturday after deciding to take the extra day of rest. That means the Twins weekend schedule will be Silve, Ponson and then Santana in that order.

- Nathan could miss tomorrow's game because his wife is having a baby. Nathan said his wife will be induced in the morning and he plans to be there in the middle innings. If his wife hasn't had the baby yet, he said he may leave and then return after the game.

Next Game:
Ramon Ortiz will take the mound for the Twins tomorrow, in his first regular season start as a Twin. Ortiz is set to take on Jaret Wright and the Orioles at 7:10 CT on FSN North.
