Herb Carneal Passes Away

This morning, Twins Hall of Fame broadcaster Herb Carneal passed away at the age of 83. Carneal had been sick, and spent six weeks in the hospital this past off season. He won the Ford C. Frick award in 1996, the highest award that a broadcaster can receive. Carneal was also inducted into the Twins Hall of Fame in 2001.

For more, read the article done by the Star Tribune, as that really tells more about Herb and what he meant to everybody.

All I can say is RIP Herb, you will be missed.

"This is a sad day for the Minnesota Twins organization and millions of baseball fans across the Upper Midwest," Twins President Dave St. Peter said in a statement. "Herb Carneal's voice was the signature element of Twins baseball for multiple generations of fans. Clearly he was one of the most beloved figures in Minnesota sports history. The Minnesota Twins will proudly dedicate the 2007 season to the memory of Herb Carneal."
