Game 83: New York Yankees

The Twins finally got some offense today and got a win at Yankee Stadium beating the Yankees 6-2. Johan Santana looked great, and got to double digits in wins. Meanwhile, the offense was better and a couple of bombs propelled them to victory. Pat Neshek pitched an awesome inning of work, but the latest voting results have him in third place.

Johan Santana really turned it on when June started, and was looking to keep it going to start off July. He got off to a great start as he allowed just two runs to a very good hitting Yankees club. Johan's final line was 7 innings, 4 hits, 2 runs and 5 strikeouts. With the win, Johan is now 10-6 on the season with a very nice 2.75 ERA.

The bullpen picked up the final two innings, and pitched very nice. Hopeful All-Star Pat Neshek was in first, and pitched one scoreless inning picking up two strikeouts. The ninth went to Nathan in a non-save opportunity (L-Rod hit a homerun) and he too pitched a quick one-two-three inning.

The offense turned it up a little bit, and scored early with a Justin Morneau double. The two big hits however went to Jason Kubel and Luis Rodriguez who each hit two-run homeruns. The Twins had a total of eight hits on the day, and Morneau and Hunter combined for half of those hits.
