Game 117: LA Angels
The Twins got swept today, and for another time this season fell below the .500 mark with a 6-2 loss to the Angels today. Boof Bonser didn't pitch horribly, but gave up a homerun right before exiting to blow his quality start. Unsurprisingly, the offense didn't look very good yet again, and scored just two runs. With the loss, they fell below the .500 mark as I mentioned, and also fell back further in each race.
Boof Bonser has been the Twins worst starter of late, and he didn't prove much today. Bonser was pitching pretty good, but allowed a sixth inning homerun before exiting to blow that. Bonser's final line was 5.2 innings, 9 hits, 5 runs and 3 strikeouts. He also walked four batters, and with the loss, is now 5-9 on the season with a 4.77 ERA.
The bullpen wasn't bad today, but Ortiz allowed his normal run per outing. Juan Rincon was in first, and gave up a hit, got an out and then exited. Dennys Reyes was on next, and pitched a scoreless inning. Ortiz came in, allowed a hit and a run before giving way to Cali for the final out of the eighth.
The offense continued its drought, and collected just two runs off six hits. The two bright spots were Jason Bartlett, who picked up both RBI and Alexi Casilla, who got two hits, scored both runs and stole second and third when on base.
