Game 122: Texas Rangers
The Twins fell to the Rangers tonight, and had no offense for the second straight night on their way to a 5-0 defeat. Boof Bonser looked shaky again, and continued his streak of inconsistent outings. With the loss, the Twins fell to seven games back in the division, and also fell back to .500 on the season.
Boof Bonser was a key to second half success last season, but this season has been far to inconsistent. Tonight, he pitched poorly, and lasted just 4.2 inning as well. Bonser's final line was 4.2 innings, 7 hits, 5 runs and 2 strikeouts. The homeruns were a big thing again as he allowed two, and his record fell to 5-10 for the season.
The bullpen pitched well after he left, and that included Juan Rincon. The Twins really stretched him out tonight, as he pitched 3.1 innings, and allowed no hits while striking out two. The final inning went to Carmen Cali, and he gave up just a hit.
Last night, the offense didn't do much, but the Twins still got the win. Tonight, they again didn't do much, but scored no runs in the loss. They collected eight hits, and drew six walks, but they also hit into three double plays. The key hitters tonight were Justin Morneau and Jason Kubel, who each picked up two hits.
