Garrett Jones and More

Well, Garrett Jones was called up today to take Ramon Ortiz's spot on the roster. Jones is not expected to be used in any starting role, but was called up to give the Twins more of a power threat off the bench. Up until today, he is batting .280 with 13 homeruns and 70 RBI at AAA Rochester.

In addition to calling up Jones, they have said that Jason Kubel and Jason Bartlett were much better today, and while they still don't know if they will have to hit the DL, they'll wait a few more days.

Finally, the Twins have claimed a "small name" player off waivers from the New York Yankees. The guy is Chris Basak, and he is expected to go to AAA.
