Game 143: Chicago White Sox

Well, the Twins finally came away with a win, and ended the series on a good note after beating the White Sox 5-2 this afternoon. Johan looked great, and picked up ten strikeouts along the way to the win. The offense was led by Jason Kubel, who was responsible for most of the runs scored. With the win, they got closer to a .500 record, and now stand at 70-73 for the season.

Johan Santana has gotten a lot of losses lately with no run support behind him. Today, he got some support and ran with it. His final line was 7 innings, 5 hits, 1 run and 10 strikeouts. With the win, he is now 15-11 on the season, and has a good 3.09 ERA to go with it.

The bullpen picked up the final two innings, and finally didn't blow the lead. Juan Rincon pitched the eighth and allowed a solo homerun to Jim Thome. The ninth then went to Nathan, and he picked up his thirtieth save of the season with a nice inning of work.

The offense as I mentioned was led behind Jason Kubel. They scored five total runs, and did so off just six total hits. Kubel accounted for four of the RBI on the game, including a three-run homerun. In addition to that, Justin Morneau tripled and picked up RBI number 102 on the season.
